Sagging Floor Support in Rockland, Ontario
Challenge
A homeowner in Rockland, Ontario was experiencing sagging floors in their home and was looking for a solution to improve the structural support beneath the affected area.
The location of the work presented an additional challenge. The area was difficult for our crews to access and work within, requiring careful planning to complete the necessary structural improvements.
The homeowner needed a solution that could provide additional support while accommodating the challenging conditions of the space.
Our team assessed the affected area and determined that additional structural support was needed beneath the sagging floor system.
Given the difficult location, our crews had to work within the available space while ensuring the new support system was properly positioned beneath the affected area. The planned solution included smart jacks and supplemental beam support, providing adjustable support to the floor structure.
Solution
Our crews installed two SmartJacks beneath the affected floor area.
Each SmartJack was installed on a 1–3 foot crushed stone base, providing a stable foundation for the support posts.
SmartJacks are adjustable steel support posts designed to provide additional support to structural components such as beams and floor systems.
To work alongside the SmartJacks, the crew installed 15 linear feet of supplemental beam.
The supplemental beam provides additional support beneath the floor system, allowing the SmartJacks to support the affected area as part of a coordinated structural solution.
One of the unique aspects of this project was the difficult location and limited working conditions.
Our crews had to carefully navigate the space and work within the constraints of the area while installing the new structural supports.
Despite the challenging access, the team was able to complete the installation and provide the additional support the homeowner needed.
With the project complete, the homeowner now has additional structural support beneath the affected floor area.
The combination of two SmartJacks, stable crushed stone bases, and 15 linear feet of supplemental beam provides a coordinated support system designed to help address the concerns associated with the sagging floors.
The successful completion of the project also demonstrates our crews' ability to take on challenging installation conditions and develop practical structural support solutions for homeowners throughout the Rockland area.
