Restoring a settling home in Lunenburg,ON
Challenge
A homeowner in Lunenburg, Ontario contacted The Foundation Guys after noticing signs of foundation settlement around their home. Concerned about the long term stability of their property, the homeowner wanted to address the issue before it could lead to further structural concerns.
After inspecting the affected area, our team determined that additional structural support was needed to help stabilize the foundation. Based on the conditions of the property and the homeowner's concerns, helical piers were recommended as an effective solution.
Helical piers are engineered steel support systems designed to transfer structural loads through weaker soils and into more stable, load bearing soil below. This allows the piers to provide additional support to the foundation and help address ongoing settlement.
Solution
To complete the installation, our crew carefully excavated approximately 23 feet along the foundation to access the affected area.
Once the foundation was exposed, six helical piers were installed and advanced into stable load bearing soil beneath the home. The piers were positioned to provide support to the affected foundation and help stabilize the structure.
After the installation was completed, the excavated area was carefully backfilled and the work area was restored as neatly as possible.
With six helical piers installed, the homeowner now has additional structural support beneath the affected area of their home.
The project provided a long term foundation stabilization solution while addressing the homeowner's concerns about the ongoing settlement of their property.
