Addressing Foundation Settlement & Drainage Concerns in Clarence Creek, Ontario
A homeowner in Clarence Creek, Ontario contacted The Foundation Guys after experiencing concerns with settlement around their home as well as issues with their existing window wells.
Because foundation settlement and poor exterior drainage can contribute to ongoing concerns around a home, the homeowner wanted to address both issues with a comprehensive solution rather than treating them separately.
Solution
After assessing the property, our team developed a plan to address both the structural and drainage concerns.
To help stabilize the affected areas of the home, our crew installed 28 helical piers. Helical piers provide additional support by transferring structural loads through weaker soils and into more stable, load bearing soil below.
The project also included a complete overhaul of the home's exterior drainage system. Our crew:
- Installed 28 helical piers to address the settlement concerns
- Installed 4 new window wells
- Removed the existing exterior weeping tile
- Installed new exterior weeping tile to improve drainage around the foundation
- Excavated approximately 132 feet around the affected areas of the home
- Carefully backfilled and smoothed the excavated areas once the work was completed
By combining structural stabilization with improvements to the home's exterior drainage, The Foundation Guys were able to address the homeowner's concerns from both a foundation support and water management perspective.
The installation of 28 helical piers provides additional structural support, while the new window wells and exterior weeping tile system help improve drainage around the foundation.
After completing the work, our crew backfilled the excavation and left the area smooth and tidy, providing the homeowner with a completed solution and greater peace of mind regarding the stability and drainage around their home.
