Basement waterproofing in Ottawa,
Challenge
A homeowner in Kanata, Ottawa was experiencing water intrusion in their basement and was concerned about keeping their home protected from future flooding.
Those concerns became even more significant during the Canada Day storm, when severe weather affected many homes throughout the region and the homeowner's basement experienced flooding.
After dealing with water entering the basement, the homeowner wanted a comprehensive solution that would not only address their existing water issues but also provide additional protection against future water intrusion and moisture problems.
Our team assessed the basement and identified several areas where water management and moisture control could be improved.
The goal was to create a complete basement waterproofing system that could effectively collect and manage water, provide reliable sump pump protection, help protect the discharge system during freezing conditions, and control excess humidity within the basement.
Rather than relying on a single solution, our crews installed multiple layers of protection designed to work together.
Solution
Our crews installed a comprehensive waterproofing and moisture control system, including:
WaterGuard was installed to help collect water that enters along the perimeter of the basement and direct it toward the sump pump system.
This provides a dedicated drainage pathway to help prevent water from accumulating on the basement floor.
A Trench Drain was installed to help collect and manage surface water in areas where additional drainage protection was needed.
TrenchLock was also incorporated into the system to help provide additional protection against water entering through vulnerable areas.
To provide reliable sump pump protection, our crews installed a TripleSafe sump pump system with battery backup.
The multi pump system provides multiple levels of pumping protection, while the battery backup is designed to keep the system operating even if there is a power outage an especially important feature during severe storms.
Because a sump pump system is only as effective as its ability to discharge water safely outside the home, our crews also installed IceGuard and RainChute EZ.
IceGuard helps protect the discharge line from becoming blocked by freezing temperatures, while RainChute EZ helps direct discharged water safely away from the foundation.
Finally, a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was installed to help control excess moisture and humidity within the basement.
With the project completed, the homeowner now has a comprehensive basement waterproofing and moisture control system designed to provide multiple layers of protection against water intrusion.
The combination of WaterGuard, Trench Drain, TrenchLock, TripleSafe with battery backup, IceGuard, RainChute EZ, and SaniDry Sedona provides the basement with a coordinated approach to water collection, pumping, discharge protection, and humidity control.
After experiencing flooding during the Canada Day storm, having these systems in place gives the homeowner greater peace of mind knowing their basement has been equipped with multiple layers of protection to help manage water and moisture concerns.
Managing basement humidity can help create a drier, more comfortable environment and support the overall moisture control strategy.
