Basement Waterproofing & Moisture Control in Ottawa
Challenge
A homeowner in Ottawa contacted our team after experiencing ongoing water intrusion and moisture issues in their basement. Water was entering both at the foundation level and across the basement floor, and there were concerns about long-term damage, poor air quality, and the overall usability of the space.
After a full inspection, we determined that the basement needed a complete water management and moisture control system to address multiple entry points, including foundation seepage, surface water, and window well drainage. A layered solution was designed to capture water, safely discharge it, and control humidity.
Solution
Our crew installed a WaterGuard® subfloor drainage system to capture groundwater at the footing before it could reach the basement floor. A WaterGuard port was added for easy future access and maintenance. To manage surface water, we installed a trench drain with TrenchLock™, preventing water from spreading across the basement floor.
Water collected by the drainage system is directed to a TripleSafe™ sump pump system, providing multiple layers of protection during heavy rain and power outages. On the exterior discharge line, we added IceGuard®, a FloodRing, and RainChute EZ® to ensure safe, year-round water discharge and protect the foundation from erosion and freezing backups.
To control wall moisture, we installed a CleanSpace® wall system, creating a durable vapor barrier that directs moisture into the drainage system. A WellDuct® interior drain was also installed to capture window well water before it could enter the basement.
To improve air quality and control humidity, a SaniDry™ Sedona dehumidifier was installed to keep the basement air dry, clean, and healthy.
With the complete system in place, the basement is now dry, protected, and healthy year round. Water is effectively captured and redirected away from the home, and humidity is controlled to prevent mold and musty odors. The homeowner now has long term peace of mind knowing their basement is safeguarded by a professionally installed, comprehensive waterproofing solution.
