Basement Waterproofing System Installation in Smith Falls, ON
Challenge
A homeowner in Smiths Falls, Ontario, contacted our team after experiencing water intrusion and surface water buildup in their basement. During heavy rain, water was entering at the foundation level and spreading across the floor, creating concerns about moisture damage and long-term protection of the space.
After completing a full inspection, we determined that groundwater was entering at the footing level and that surface water needed to be captured before it could spread through the basement. To properly manage both sources of water, a combined drainage and wall moisture management system was required.
Solution
Our crew installed a WaterGuard® subfloor drainage system to capture groundwater at the foundation footing before it could reach the basement floor. A WaterGuard port was added to allow for easy access and future maintenance of the drainage system.
To manage surface water, we installed a trench drain, which directs water into the drainage system before it can travel across the basement floor. Collected water is discharged through a Zoeller M36 sump pump housed in a custom 24-inch sump liner, providing dependable and efficient water removal.
To protect the foundation walls and control moisture, we installed a CleanSpace® wall system, creating a durable vapor barrier that directs wall moisture into the drainage system.
The completed system now effectively captures and redirects both groundwater and surface water, keeping the basement dry, protected, and healthier year-round. The homeowner can now use their basement with confidence, knowing their home is safeguarded by a professionally installed waterproofing solution designed for long-term performance.
