Foundation Stablization for a Home in Clarence Creek
Challenge
A homeowner in Clarence Creek, Ontario, near Ottawa, contacted The Foundation Guys after noticing sinking on one side of their home.
Foundation settlement can occur when the soil beneath a structure is unable to adequately support the weight of the home. Because the homeowner had noticed movement affecting one side of the property, they wanted to address the concern and provide additional support to the affected area.
After assessing the affected portion of the home, our team determined that additional structural support was needed beneath the settling area.
Based on the conditions of the property, 3 inch helical piers were selected as the appropriate solution to help transfer the structural load into more stable, load bearing soil.
Solution
Our crew installed four 3-inch helical piers beneath the affected side of the home.
Helical piers are engineered steel support systems that are installed into the ground and advanced until they reach suitable load bearing soil. Once installed, they provide additional support beneath the structure and help address concerns associated with foundation settlement.
The four piers were strategically positioned to support the affected area of the home and help provide greater stability to the foundation.
With four 3 inch helical piers installed, the homeowner now has additional structural support beneath the side of the home that had been experiencing settlement.
The project provided a targeted foundation stabilization solution designed to help address the underlying support concerns and provide greater long-term stability.
